It's odd, for some reason I told myself I would make a memory quilt for my niece's high school graduation present. I came up with this plan one day as I prepared my mind to accept the little girl was now a young woman...no longer hesitant to face the world on her own, this smart, strong beautiful young lady was ready to conquer the world. And with her fire and light, I have no doubt everything she sets her mind to she'll do!! I remember when my sister Robinett ( who died unexpectedly about 3 year ago....You can find more about her here:
https://www.wix.com/dashboard/c222f6cf-555c-42ea-8721-efbe01f4f0b2/blog/remembering-robinett/edit ) and her husband thought my name suggestion was the one; I thought it represented power and confidence....looks like it was indeed the perfect fit! because ya'll my sweet niece is amazing....I'm pretty biased and right! Her hard work throughout her scholastic career has paid off as she prepared for her first year in college. She's inquisitive, funny, obviously deserving a very special gift. Problem was, I didn't know the first thing about quilting!!! I think I was so determined to share meaningful memories with her and her brother that I didn't consider I mean, with my super busy schedule why would I even try to pull off something this time consuming and intricate with no experience! UGH!! who does that?!!?? Apparently ME! I mean, it's pretty much just like me to try new things, but this just seemed impossible. After asking around and watching YouTube videos and giving up at least two times....I finally just decided to give it a try.
So there I was with an idea and no plan! For weeks, I wrote in my idea journal the many different types of quilts people made. The beautiful designs and patterns were overwhelming and I couldn't rationalize any way I could figure out how to create such a beautiful masterpiece. Have you ever done anything like this? Have a great idea and NO idea how to do it! fortunately I came across this YouTube sight; https://youtu.be/r7eObCvo9H4 and with the help of my good friend Cynthia I was on my way!!!

So, here's the thing.....pulling things all together can sometimes seem daunting.....but you can't give up! I remember when I started the project I was too scared to make the first cut....but after I finally started to cut; guess what? I just kept cutting!!
Maybe you, like me have attempted to try something new with little to no experience....maybe you think you're unqualified and unable to do it...If it's something your really believe in, don't let the fear of doing something new stop you...always be encouraged because when you push past your fears, and insecurities, everything that can block you is out of the picture & you're left with potential. Regardless how long it may take to complete don't give up! Just like my goal to quilt for the first time; keep the "reasons why" in the forefront of your mind....so when obstacles come; they won't stop you.
I believe everything we set our minds to do, through prayer and planning we're able to do......all for HIS Glory.
